Costing Catalog and Spreadsheet Import

What you'll accomplish

Create, import, find, edit, archive, and restore reusable cost/sell rows without confusing them with job actuals.

Steps

1. Open Costing and select Materials, Labor, or Subcontractors.
2. Search with at least two characters or filter Active, Archived, or All rows.
3. Choose Import, select CSV/XLSX/XLS, choose a worksheet, verify or adjust column mapping, and inspect the preview.
4. Import up to 500 valid rows and review skipped-row details; split larger files before repeating.
5. Add or edit individual rows, or archive and later restore them from the Archived filter.

What to expect

• Material rows can also carry code, unit, and description; subcontractor rows carry a job-style unit.
• Cost and sell values are stored as cents and the list displays markup alongside them.
• The catalog has explicit loading, permission, empty, action-error, and paginated Load more states.
• Import mapping requires Name and supports kind-appropriate code, category, unit, cost, and sell-price fields.
• Name plus at least one of Cost or Sell price is required; when one price is missing, import uses the other, with default units ea, hr, or job by catalog type.

Good to know

Costing does not currently provide market-rate data, regional multipliers, supplier sync, or automatic repricing when a catalog row later changes.
