Start a takeoff
Choose one PDF in Projects, send it to an existing project or create a project from the PDF, then follow it through upload, preparation, and opening.

What you'll accomplish
Upload a supported plan through the production project flow and recognize every preparation stage.
Steps
- On Projects, choose Start a takeoff and select one PDF.
- Choose an existing project or New project from PDF, then follow Creating, Uploading, Preparing, and Opening states.
- Alternatively, open an existing project and choose Upload plan for a PDF, PNG, or JPEG plan file.
- Use the visible error and retry path if validation, upload, plan preparation, or opening fails.
What to expect
- The launchpad intentionally handles one PDF at a time and keeps its project destination explicit.
- The project-folder uploader accepts PDF, PNG, and JPEG; the takeoff launchpad is PDF-only.
- Run AI takeoff becomes available after the stored plan and takeoff are ready in the editor.
Good to know
Native CAD/DWG, office files, ZIP archives, and a production editor-local drop/browse workflow are not supported.
